Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what information Upzella (“Upzella”, “we”, “us”) collects when a merchant installs and uses the Upzella app on their Shopify store, and how we use and protect it. By installing Upzella, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Who we are
Upzella is an upsell, cross-sell and volume-discount app for Shopify, built by twinecom.com. We act as a data processor for the store data you authorize us to access through Shopify, and as a data controller for your merchant account details. You can reach us anytime at upzella.app@gmail.com.
2. Information we collect
When you install Upzella, Shopify asks you to approve the access scopes the app needs. With your approval, we access and store:
- Store & account details — your store domain, shop ID, plan, contact email, timezone and currency.
- Product catalog — product titles, variants, prices, images and collections, used to build offers and power the AI Setup Wizard.
- Order data — order totals, line items and timestamps at the order level only, used to attribute revenue to Upzella offers and to power Social proof popups. We do not access your customers’ names, emails, addresses or payment details.
- App configuration — the offers, modules, discount tiers and settings you create inside Upzella.
Upzella requests only three Shopify scopes — read products, read orders and write discounts. Order access is limited to order-level data with no customer fields. We do not collect payment card numbers or passwords, and we never sell any data.
3. How we use information
- To provide the app’s features — showing offers on your storefront and applying real discounts at checkout.
- To generate offer drafts with the AI Setup Wizard from your product catalog.
- To calculate attributed revenue and analytics in your dashboard.
- To provide support, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations.
We process this data on your behalf to operate the service and do not use it for advertising.
4. Storefront visitors
To display offers and attribute results, Upzella’s storefront widget may process limited, non-identifying information such as cart contents and an anonymous session identifier. This is used to show the right offer and measure whether it was accepted. Our Social proof popups display only a product name and a relative time (for example, “2 minutes ago”), generated from real orders — they never reveal a customer’s name, location or any personal detail. Upzella does not build advertising profiles of your shoppers.
5. Service providers
We share data only with the providers needed to run the app, each bound by their own data-protection commitments:
- Shopify — the platform your store and our app run on.
- Cloud hosting — our application server and database, which store your configuration and analytics.
- AI provider — the AI Setup Wizard sends relevant product information to a third-party AI service to generate offer suggestions. This data is used to return suggestions to you and is not used to train public models by us.
We do not sell or rent personal information to anyone.
6. Data retention
We keep your store data for as long as Upzella is installed. When you uninstall the app, Shopify notifies us and we delete or anonymize your store’s data within 30 days, except where we are legally required to retain limited records. You can request earlier deletion at any time.
7. Security
We protect data with encryption in transit, access controls, and reputable hosting infrastructure. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to safeguard your information and will notify affected merchants of any breach as required by law.
8. Your rights
Because Upzella stores order-level and product data rather than your customers’ names, emails or addresses, the personal data we hold is minimal. Depending on your location, you may have rights under laws such as the GDPR and CCPA to access, correct, export or delete personal data, and to object to certain processing. Because Upzella processes store data on your behalf, requests from your customers should come to you first; we will help you fulfil them. To exercise any right, email upzella.app@gmail.com. Shopify’s mandatory data-request, customer-redact and shop-redact webhooks are supported.
9. Cookies
The Upzella admin interface, embedded in your Shopify admin, uses only the cookies necessary to keep you securely signed in and to remember your settings. This marketing website uses no advertising or tracking cookies.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves or as laws change. When we make material changes, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app or by email. Continued use of Upzella after an update means you accept the revised policy.
11. Contact us
Questions, data requests, or anything else about privacy? Email us at upzella.app@gmail.com and we’ll respond promptly.
